An opus in three parts, Iraq in fragments offers a series of intimate, passionately-felt portraits: An 11-year-old is apprenticed to the domineering owner of a Baghdad garage; Sadr followers in two Shiite cities rally for regional elections while enforcing Islamic laws at the point of a gun; a family of Kurdish farmers welcomes the US presence, which has allowed them a measure of freedom previously denied.

American director James Longley spent more then two years filming in Iraq to create this stunningly photographed, poetically rendered documentary of the war-torn country as seen through the eyes of Sunnis, Shiites and Kurds.

Our regular Tuesday night meeting will be devoted to discussing a political event or idea. We're planning to discuss Senator Obama's recent speech on race.

May 23

Participate in the Beverly Memorial Day Parade

June 1

We will have a forum featuring Iraq Vets who participated in the Winter Solider event. We will focus on the anti-war movement that's growing in the military.

Please plan to attend as many of these events as possible. The war in Iraq must be kept in the public eye even though the media and politicians are doing their best to ignore it.
There will be updates as these events approach.
